The New York Quarterly was established in 1969 by the
late William Packard
out of a growing concern for the pure craft and technique of
poetry writing. Every issue of NYQ includes the best cross-section
of contemporary poetry, a Craft Interview with an outstanding
poet on the general subject of style and prosody and technique,
informational articles on poets and poetry — materials
of lasting value to the practicing poet.
NYQ 63 is Still Available - Order Now! NYQ 63 features craft interviews with F. D. Reeve and Gene Fowler and work by W. D. Snodgrass, Donald Lev, Elizabeth Swados, Mark Weber, Bob Hicok, Timothy Liu, Matthew Zapruder and many of today's most prominent and emerging poets. NYQ 63
is also available at independent bookstores
nationwide.
NYQ Poetry Series
July 2006 saw the release of Some Holy Weight in the Village Air by Ira Joe Fisher. With the publication of this book, No. 1 in the NYQ Poetry Series, by Athanata Arts, Ltd. in July of 2006, William Packard's dream of having a series of books dedicated to the poets from the pages of the New York Quarterly has been realized.
